Starting January 1, 2020, the Clinical Applications module will be offered as the third of three modules in the CCRT certification program.

Prerequisites: This 3-day course is open to veterinarians and physical therapists that have taken Introduction to Canine Rehabilitation and Clinical Skills (formerly called Canine Rehabilitation Therapist), and to CCRP veterinarians and physical therapists that have taken Clinical Skills. Veterinary students may take Clinical Applications after completing Introduction to Canine Rehabilitation, Clinical Skills, and their third year of veterinary school. Physical therapy students may register for this course, but can't start the course until after they graduate and are licensed.
Online Coursework: We have streamlined this course to include more online content. This course has 2 classroom days and 23 hours of additional online coursework that must be completed before the first day of class. The online coursework includes our Canine Neurology and Neuro Rehabilitation course at no charge.
Registered students: Please set aside the time you need to do the online coursework before the first day of class. We will email instructions for accessing the online coursework at least 30 days before the class starts. |
Course
Description: Clinical Applications provides students with the skills needed to evaluate and treat patients with orthopedic and/or neurological impairments. Pain management is emphasized from a medical management perspective. This is a hands-on course where students practice evaluation skills, create assessments, and present treatment plans for all types of canine rehabilitation cases.
This course is RACE approved by the AAVSB for 24 credit hours.
Please note: Students who
do not attend a full day of class will
not receive any CE credit hours for
that day and may have to return to make
up the missing hours. |

Course Fee: $1,750
Hybrid Course Notes: The Clinical Applications module has been hybridized with approximately 8 hours of content provided online via video lectures prior to students attending a 2-day hands-on live lab. The live sessions are completed following strict COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC. All registrations for live labs will be honored to the best of our abilities, however cancellations or postponements may occur if CDC guidelines require this.

Include:
- Pain management
- How to perform an orthopedic evaluation
- How to perform a neurological evaluation
- Gait patterns and lameness
- Indications and contraindications for neurological treatment techniques
- Dry needling, acupuncture, stem cells, and joint injections
- Treatment techniques for an upper motor neuron vs. a lower motor neuron case
- Setting goals, developing treatment plans, and measuring outcomes
Classes are held each day from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm in Colorado and Florida. There is a 1-hour break for lunch. Registered students: Please watch for specific emails about each class as there may be occasional minor changes to class times.
At the end of DAY 3, students
are given an open-book, take-home final exam
that they have 30 days to complete. Collaboration
with fellow classmates is encouraged.
